These Two States Combined Host Over 40 % Of India's Electric Vehicles

A total of 8.7 lakh EVs are registered across states and out of all the EVs registered in the country, UP and Delhi host around 44 percent. Delhi hosts the second-highest number of registered EVs, following behind Uttar Pradesh according to a report by the road transport and highways ministry.

The Department of Heavy Industries changed the 2019 Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles (FAME-II) scheme to offer 50 percent higher incentives on two-wheeler EVs. The latest incentives are as follows:

For two-wheelers: ₹ 15,000 per kWh of battery capacity, up to 40 percent of the vehicle cost.

For four-wheelers: ₹ 10,000 per kWh of battery capacity, up to Rs 1.5 lakh.

Under Phase-II of the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) India scheme, the union government-supported about 1.65 lakhs Electric Vehicles (EV) by way of demand incentive amounting to about ₹ 564 crore. Further, 6,315 electric buses have been sanctioned to various state and city transport undertakings under the Scheme's Phase-II.

Some state governments have invested in EV adoption by offering incentives to electric car buyers that supplement the Centre’s subsidies. Here are the five Indian states that present the most incentives on EVs:
